Color Wheel Art | Mandala Painting

Paint the beauty of a Mandala usinag an adapted color wheel concept. This canvas art painting is a wonderful project for any beginner.




    Read instructions completely before beginning this project.

    1. Enlarge pattern to fit your surface. Transfer pattern to surface. Omit the color names.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Painting Color Slices - Following the diagram from the patteren, paint each color on the outside of the color wheel solid. Tuscan Red, Red Violet, etc...
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Paint a narrow portion of the first section of the color slice with the labeled color. Calico Red, Deep Burgundy. Then add a small amount of Titanium White into the color and continue filling in the slice. Continue adding more Titanium White to the mixture and blending as you continue to fill in the section. Do this with each color in the first section of the color wheel.
    6. Paint the second section of the slice in the same manner using the labeled colors Watermelon Slice, Cranberry Wine. Adding Titanium White to the colors as you did with the first section.
    7. Paint the half petals of the third section of the slice solid with the labeled colors. Country Red, Berry Cobbler.
    8. Add a small amount of the color to Titanium White and paint the background around the half petal solid.
    9. Paint the large petal in the bottom center of the slice solid Primary Red.

    11. Add a small amount of the color to Titanium White. Use mix to paint the background of the large petal.

    13. Continue painting each section of each slice in the same manner using the labeled color around the color wheel.

    15. Using a fine liner brush with Sand Gray thinned with water paint between all sections of each slice.
    16. Paint background with Sand Gray, or leave white.
