DIY Shabby Chic Vanity Tray

This DIY tray, colored with Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics, is so dainty and chic, it's perfect for a vanity or bathroom!

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • decorative paper
    • small spray bottle of water
    • X-Acto® knife
    • 1" painter's tape
    • wooden board
    • E6000 Glue
    • small roller
    • paintbrushes
    • small wooden finials

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Glue four small wooden finials to the bottom of the wooden board.

    3. Paint the entire board and the feet in Cactus.

    5. Dry-brush Primitive over the top of the board with a chip brush.

    7. Line the bottom of the tray's rim with painter's tape. (See photo.) Paint the small curvature of the lip in 24K Gold

    9. Using an X-Acto knife and decorative paper, cut three strips of selected areas.

    11. Cut the strips to size for the center of the tray, fold the edge over, and use that as a guide to trim.

    13. Spray the decorative paper strips with water, holding the spray bottle far away from the paper surface. (Or sprinkle water on the back of the paper with your fingertips.) Apply Matte Decou-Page to the back of the paper and the surface of the tray. Lay the paper down and smooth out all wrinkles with a roller.

    15. Paint the entire surface in DuraClear Gloss Varnish.
