Dot Art can be used to create a stunning mosaic tile appearance. This fun, DIY project is a wonderful way to embellish a garden container.

SUPPLIES

• palette or plastic plate
• tape measure
• concrete planter
• pencil with eraser head
• mounting putty

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Begin by planning your design. I practiced dotting on a piece of card stock until I was pleased with the pattern. Dot Art can be so addictive! I love how easily it will inspire your creativity.

2. Using your pencil and tape measure, lightly mark a line one inch from the top of the planter. This will be the guide line as you place the first row of dots.

3. To keep your planter flat on your work surface, position it on a few pieces of mounting putty to hold it in place. To begin: Dip the end of your eraser into the DecoArt Patio Paint Outdoor Acrylic (you can either pour some into a palette or just dip into the cap like I did).

4. Next, with gentle pressure, dot the end of the eraser onto the line. To achieve a nice, round dot, try to keep your pencil perpendicular to the surface of the planter. The key to consistent dotting is making sure to dip your eraser into the paint before every dot. It's pretty relaxing and so satisfying to see your design start to appear!

5. To keep your dots evenly spaced, try to place them side by side without touching. Before changing paint colors, be sure to wipe the eraser off thoroughly before dipping it into the next shade. Following the pattern you created, keep placing dots on your planter.

6. When you have completed the pattern on one side, allow the paint to dry, and then rotate the planter to complete the design all the way around the planter.
