Create foul weather storage full of color with Americana® Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

• water container
• palette or plastic plate
• paper towels
• tracing paper
• transfer paper
• pencil
• #2 round brush
• 3/4" flat brush
• #8 flat brush
• round papier mâché box

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Trace and transfer the boot pattern on the bottom of the box.
2. Using the 3/4" flat brush with Turquoise Blue, fill in all the areas around the boots and umbrella.
3. Using the #8 flat brush, paint each pair of boots separately Primary Blue; Lamp Black; Spa Blue; Orchid; Cadmium Orange; or Grape Juice.
4. Use the #2 round brush to outline the Primary Blue boot with White Wash; the Lamp Black with Cadmium Red; the Spa Blue with Grape Juice; the Orchid with Sour Apple; the Cadmium Orange with Lamp Black; and the Grape Juice with Bright Yellow.
5. Embellish the boots with stripes, hearts, dots, and swirls using same the colors that the boots were outlined in and the #2 round brush.
6. Trace and transfer the umbrella pattern onto the lid.
7. Use the #8 flat brush to fill the umbrella top with Cadmium Orange; Bright Yellow for the pole; and Lamp Black for the handle and button.
8. Using the #2 round brush, outline the Cadmium Orange parts of umbrella with Bright Yellow and the Bright Yellow and Lamp Black parts with Cadmium Orange.
9. Using the same brush, paint Bright Yellow flowers on the umbrella.
10. Use the #2 round brush and Spa Blue to paint tilted raindrops randomly on the lid. Outline the raindrops on the right half with Primary Blue and add highlights on the opposite side with the same color. (See photo for placement.)
11. Around the outer rim, use the #8 flat brush to paint Primary Blue vertical stripes. Use the #2 round brush with Bright Yellow to paint a stripe in every other Primary Blue stripe.
