Thrift Store Art Supply Caddy Upcycle

Paint an old thrift store caddy and turn it into a craft room organizer using Chalky Finish.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • paper towels
    • 1" flat brush
    • cosmetic sponge
    • candle
    • caddy
    • duct tape

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Wipe down surface to remove any dust and grime. Paint surface with a base coat of Innocence. This is the color that will be shown through distressing.

    3. Rub the edges of the caddy with a candle, including the tops of the caddy, to deposit a light coating of wax here and there.

    5. Paint two coats of Relic to the inside and outside of the wood caddy.

    7. Use duct tape to pick up bits of Relic and allow Innocence to show through. Crumple the duck tape up and dab the paint. Use strips of duct tape to slowly pick up the paint along the edges.

    9. Paint stencils from Olde World Numbers onto each side of the surface in Innocence.
