Woodland Holiday Cookie Exchange Gift Box

Your holiday cookie exchange party takes on a woodland theme with Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • transfer paper
    • pencil
    • #3 round brush
    • 1" flat brush
    • 1/4" flat brush
    • #5 round brush
    • #0 liner brush
    • craft knife
    • cardboard box
    • acetate

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Paint the entire box surface with Cotton Ball. (The surface pictured is approximately 3" x 9" x 3".)

    3. Using the transfer paper and a pencil, transfer the provided pattern onto the box.

    5. Cut out the shaded areas of the pattern using a sharp craft knife.

    7. Using a #3 and #5 round brush, paint the tree trunks in Battleship. Mix (2) parts Cotton Ball with (1) part Coastal Waters. Use the mix to paint in the sky background. Paint the pine tree on the far right and left with Woodland Green and the remaining pine tree in Green Beret. If needed, erase or paint over any pencil marks.

    9. Line up the pattern and transfer details (linework in trees, bird, lettering, and porcupine) from the same pattern onto the box. Using a liner brush, add details to the tree trunks in Bittersweet. Using a liner brush, add Green Beret linework onto the Woodland Green pine trees. Add Woodland Green linework onto the Green Beret pine tree.

    11. Paint the cardinal at the top of the tree using a liner brush and Red Barn. Paint the porcupine face in Battleship and the rest of the body in Bittersweet. Let dry. Use the handle end of the brush and Black Tie to add the eye to each critter.

    13. Using a 1/4" flat brush, free-hand the hills onto the side of the box in Cotton Ball.

    15. If needed, transfer the pine trees from the pattern for the top of the container. Repeat the trees as desired using Woodland Green and Green Beret, following step 4.

    17. Using a liner brush and Black Tie, paint over the lettering on the banner. Water down a small amount of Snow-Tex on the palette or plastic plate. With a 1/4" flat brush, apply to all Cotton Ball areas, excluding the banner.

    19. Cut a piece of clear acetate to fit the inside of the box. Using hot glue, adhere the acetate onto the inside top of the box.
