Upcycled Cardboard Landscape
Step 1
Plan layout based on desired size. Print out template to desired size. Cut out design section by section and trace onto cardboard.
Step 2
Cut out cardboard shapes using an exacto knife.
Step 3
Hot glue shapes onto your base piece of cardboard, building up layers. Work from background to the foreground- with largest floral shapes and cloud shapes glued to hang off the edges.
Step 4
Pick your color palette. I chose to use many colors and color block areas and patterns- saving most detailed painting for the foremost flower patterns.
Step 5
Have fun with textures (like dotting areas with hot glue to create patterns or painting lines to imply grass).
Step 6
I painted the sky with a mixture of Orange, White, Purple, and Berry Red. Dotting in stars using a wooden skewer with White and the coral mixture (White plus Orange).
Step 7
The clouds I painted with a blended mixture using Berry Red and Orange
Step 8
Mountain shapes were painted with different mixtures of blues and purples. Have fun with this mixing!
Step 9
Different mounds were painted with colors like Brick, Red Maple, Yellow, Lucky Green, Moss Green, and Deep Forest.
Step 10
I painted the flowers with a base of White and allowed to dry before adding colors
Step 11
Paint the flowers with more detail to emphasize them being in the foreground.
