Easter candy takes on a whole new look when you add this cute design to a plain glass jar.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • painter's tape
    • liner brush
    • soft bristle, full brush
    • clean glass jar
    • soft bristle, shorter brush
    • chopsticks (optional)

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Print off the pattern and tape it to the inside of the jar with painter’s tape.
    2. Mix Green Crystal and Black Crystal 1:1 for a very dark green, adding Black Crystal until desired color appears. Outline the tree limbs with this mix using a liner brush. (Save mix for later steps.)
    3. Outline the bird and features with Black Crystal using a liner brush.
    4. Fill in the limbs with the same dark green paint mixed in step 2, using a liner brush generously dipped into paint. Blot the paint heavily and lightly fill in to all edges.
    5. For the nest, mix Orange Crystal with a small amount of Black Crystal for a straw color. Using the liner brush and mix, brush out the nest, brushing up on sides leaving a straw/twig-like edge.
    6. Outline the tops of the eggs showing from top of nest with Black Crystal.
    7. Make pastel colors for eggs by mixing (1/2) part White Crystal with (1/2) part of Americana Crystal Gloss color of your choice.
    8. Outline the leaves with the Green Crystal/Black Crystal mix from step 2. Outline the leaves sparsely and then fill in to the desired thickness.
    9. Fill in the leaves using a liner brush with Green Crystal.
    10. Paint the bird using a mix of Blue Crystal and White Crystal. Dip the soft bristle, full brush generously into paint, blotting around to all edges. Let dry.
    11. When paint is thoroughly dry, retrace the features and the outline of the bird with Black Crystal.
    12. For the beak, use Orange Crystal.
    13. Paint the lid with a complementary Americana Acrylic color. (We used Blue Chiffon.) Using the end of the paintbrush, create dotted flowers in coordinating colors of choice. Coat the lid for protection with Americana Primer & Sealer.
