    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Using a palette knife and Dimensional Effects, cover up the letters on the bindings of the books, creating a rough and weathered texture.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Stick the foam letters onto the bindings, spelling out "Potions", "Spells", and "Hexes"( or any other label of your choice).
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Cover the rest of the area of the books with Dimensional Effects, creating a rough texture over the whole thing. Add some texture to the letters in spots as well.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Paint the entirety of all books in Copper. Let dry. Once dry and no longer cold to the touch, paint Weathered Wood over the entire surface of the books and let dry.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Apply Lamp Black to the books, keeping in mind that the direction you paint in will be the direction that the cracks start to form. (See photo: This look was achieved by painting in an up and down fashion.)
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Add (4) parts water to (1) part Silver. Paint this wash over the entirety of the books, adding a slight sheen to them. (Giving the letters on the bindings a layer of this wash will make the letters stand out.)
