  • How to use Stick-On Stencils
    SECURING STENCIL

Begin with a clean, dry surface. Carfeully remove stencil by lifting at tab. Adhere stencil securely to surface to ensure clean edges.

    APPLICATION

For use with water-based paints only. Apply paint as desired. Allow stenciled design to dry for 48 hours.

    For smooth, dimensional appearance:
       • Palette knife - use to spread paint
       • Brush - use to dab paint.

    For textured appearance:
       • Dauber - Load with paint and dab

    For lightly textured appearance:
       • Dauber - Load with paint, pounce on palette or paper towel before application
       • Cosmetic Sponge - Load with paint, pounce on palette before application

    AFTER PAINT APPLICATION

Immediately peel stencil from surface to prevent paint from adhering to stencil.

    STENCIL CARE

Gently wash stencil with DecoMagic Brush Cleaner or soap and water immediately after use. Pat dry with a paper towel. Return to original plastic sheet.

  • Tips for Stick-On Stencils
    BASECOATED SURFACES

Allow basecoated surfaces to completely dry before stenciling.

    FOR COMPLEX CURVES

To wrap easily around a complex curve, cut slits into edges of stencils prior to adhering to surface.

    FOR HEAVIER COVERAGE

Apply two thin coats instead of one thick coat. Allow to dry between coats.

    FIXING MISTAKES ON GLASS

While the paint is still wet, use a toothpick or cotton swab to removed any unwanted paint. Once the paint is dry, use a toothpick or a razor blade to carefully scrape away unwanted paint and rough edges.

    SEAMLESS LETTERING

For a non-stenciled look, connect the bridges when finished stenciling. Take a small paintbrush and dip the tip into the same color you used for the rest of the letter. Connect the pieces of the letter. This will ensure your finished project looks clean and professional.
