3-D Painted Woodland Ornaments

Turn a plain round ornament into a cute woodland creature easily with Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • rubbing alcohol
    • scissors
    • #6 flat brush
    • hot glue gun and glue sticks
    • #1 liner brush
    • #1 round brush
    • pen or pencil
    • jute
    • clear glass ornament
    • felt
    • clear ornaments
    • 3/4" Flat Brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Clean the ornaments with a paper towel and rubbing alcohol. Remove the lids and keep until the end. Let the ornaments dry completely.

    3. Use a 3/4" flat brush and Brown Sugar to paint one ornament completely. Rinse brush. Use the same brush with Coffee Bean to paint one ornament. Rinse brush. Use the same brush with Paprika on the last ornament. Rinse brush. Allow to dry. Add second coats. Allow to dry. With the #6 flat brush, mix (4) parts Cotton Ball with (1) part Brown Sugar. Use the same brush to paint the shape of the faces on all three ornaments with the mixture. Rinse brush. Apply second coat and allow to dry.

    5. Using a #6 flat brush, paint a piece of felt with each color:Brown Sugar, Coffee Bean and Paprika. (Refer to photo) Allow to dry. Rinse brush.

    7. Use the #6 flat brush and Brown Sugar to paint the larger circles around the owl's eyes. Allow to dry. Rinse brush. Paint smaller circles within larger circles, using the same brush and Cotton Ball. Rinse brush. Allow to dry add a second coat. Let dry completely. Rinse brush.

    9. Use a pen or pencil and the tracing and transfer papers to trace and transfer the deer's eyes and nose. Use a #1 liner brush and Coffee Bean to paint on the deer's eyes and nose. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Cotton Ball to add a sparkle to the eye and highlight to the nose. Rinse brush.

    11. Use #1 liner brush and Coffee Bean to paint the fox's eyes and nose. Rinse brush. Use same brush to add a sparkle to the eye and highlight to the nose using Cotton Ball. Rinse brush.

    13. Use a #1 liner brush and Paprika to paint the owl's beak and lines in the eyes. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Coffee Bean to paint on the pupils. Rinse brush.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Trace and transfer the ear patterns to the felt. Use a #1 liner brush and Buff Beige to paint the inner ears of the deer and fox. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and load Coffee Bean to shade the tops of the fox's ears. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.

    17. Use scissors to cut out the ears.

    19. Use a hot glue gun to adhere the ears to the deer.

    21. Use a hot glue gun to adhere the ears to the fox.

    23. Use a hot glue gun to adhere the ears to the owl.

    25. Use scissors to cut jute, string, yarn, or hemp to fit the ornaments.

    27. Tie the jute onto the ornament top.
