DIY Faux Lacquer Candle Sticks

DIY Faux Lacquer Candle Sticks

Posted by DecoArt on Jul 21st 2013

I'm loving lacquered EVERYTHING right now...from large pieces of furniture to small home decor items. Lacquered furnishings make a big statement. I came across some amazing lacquer looking candle sticks on here and after that I was determined to create my own. Notice I didn't say shell out $59 each for them ;)

Items Needed:

  • Candle Sticks
  • Paint Brushes

Start with a basic pair of candle sticks, I used an inexpensive pair I picked up at Ikea. Then, select your perfect paint color. Deco Art's Gloss Enamel paints are perfect for this project because they have that glossy, lacquered after applying a couple coats!

I chose to mix "baby blue" and "light buttermilk" to create the light, coastal blue color I was looking for.

Apply the paint to your candle sticks using a soft bristle paint brush. Most projects will require two coats of paint for full coverage. Simple and beautiful!
