    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • #12 flat brush
    • four wooden plaques
    • soft rag
    • Post-it® Notes
    • pen or pencil

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Use the #12 flat brush to paint all the outer edges and sides of the plaques with Espresso.
    2. Write out the herb names using a pen or pencil onto Post-it Notes. Place Post-its on the plaques to check placement. Once you are happy with the placement, the trace letters so that the pen creates indentations onto the wooden plaques.
    3. Write the herb names onto the plaques with a White Americana Writer using the indentations as a guide.
    4. Once lettering has dried, use the #12 flat brush to lightly paint over the Espresso sides and edges of plaques with the other listed Americana Acrylics. (We used Wasabi Green for sage plaque, Spa Blue for thyme, Golden Straw for dill, and Light Buttermilk for basil.) Load paintbrush, then wipe off excess onto a paper towel, and dry-brush it over Espresso. (This will create a rustic look to the edge of the plaques.)
    5. Paint over the lettering with the appropriate color paint. Let dry and repeat with second coat.
    6. Mix (1) part Staining/Antiquing Medium with (1) part Espresso. Brush it onto all the plaques' edges and wipe back. Repeat for the top of plaque, wiping off excess with a soft rag.
    7. When dry, add a coat of DuraClear Satin Varnish.
