Abstract Floral Canvas

Abstract Floral Canvas

I have been interested in creating abstract flowers since I began my art journey 4 years ago. I had always assumed that they were a difficult thing to master and that I would just have to rely on stencils and stamps to provide imagery in my art. It wasn’t until I really gained the understanding that art is art, no matter what it looks like, that I really felt free to try things I had been afraid to do previously.

This project is inspired by the rose bushes in my garden, that I often cut flowers from to bring into the house. At the beginning of the video, you will notice that the background goes from scrapbook paper and gesso to being covered with paint. I had started to do some stenciling, but ultimately didn’t like where the background was going, so I ended up covering it. But I still feel the layers in the background add to the overall effect of the painting.

I hope you enjoy!
