Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Cut a piece of plywood to the size you would like. Sand any rough edges on the sides.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Paint with Black Chalkboard Paint going in one direction (horizontal) with a flat brush. Let dry for one hour.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. After one hour, paint another layer of Chalkboard Paint, this time going in the opposite direction (vertical). Let dry for another hour.
    6. Option: Paint another horizontal layer of Chalkboard Paint. Let cure 24 hours.
    7. Cut out the provided Silhouette pattern using a Silhouette machine.
    8. After 24 hours, apply the vinyl stencil. (Don't worry about any small bubbles.)
    9. Instruction #6
    10. Remove the inner-state line.
    11. Instruction #7
    12. Make sure the states match up where the two pieces of the stencil meet. (If they don't match, remove the smaller portion of the state and replace it so that they match up.)
    13. Instruction #8
    14. Apply the "Adventure awaits" vinyl.
    15. Instruction #9
    16. Paint "Adventure awaits" in Lace. Push down any bubbles as you come to them so the paint does not bleed underneath.
    17. Instruction #10
    18. Paint the states in Lace. Continue to push down bubbles as you come to them. Remove the vinyl and let dry.
    19. Instruction #11
    20. Once dry, condition the entire board using chalk: Put a thin layer of chalk over the entire surface and then wipe off with a dry paper towel. Repeat with a few paper towels until it is less chalky.
    21. Frame out the map using stained 1" x 2" board and a nail gun. (You should have two pieces that measure 17-1/2" and two pieces that measure 29-1/2".) Measure as you go so the frame matches at each corner.
    22. Attach a sawtooth hanger on the back if you will be hanging it on a wall.
    23. Chalk in your adventures. If you make a mistake, wipe if off with a dry paper towel.
    24. Instruction #15
