Alphabet Tree Classroom Wall Decor

Paint an alphabet tree wall decoration, sure to brighten up any classroom.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • #8 round brush
    • cosmetic sponge
    • 11" x 14" basswood canvas

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Using 3/4 flat brush paint front part of basswood canvas starting at the top with Sky Blue and gradually adding Blue Lagoon. Use horizontal strokes.
    2. Use a pencil to trace tree and grass pattern.

    4. Using 3/4 flat brush paint the grass in Turf Green. Use the back end of the brush and dot on Leprechaun and Chartreuse.

    6. Using #8 round brush paint the tree in brown sugar. Using just the tip of the #8 round brush, add detail in Buff Beige (tiny brush strokes throughout)Once dry, place the alphabet stencils randomly throughout the branches.

    8. Once you are happy with the placement of the letter, use a cosmetic sponge to stencil by lightly dabbing on Buff Beige. Remove the stencils as you go. Once dry, place stencils on top and lightly dab using these colors randomly (or refer to photo) Lipstick, Iris, Pumpkin Patch, School Bus, Chartreuse, and Green Beret.
    9. Using the back end of a paint brush, dot on leaves in Turf Green, Chartreuse and Green Beret.
    10. Using #8 round brush, paint flower stems in Chartreuse. Using #8 round brush paint flowers in Pumpkin Patch, Lipstick, Iris, School bus and Chartreuse. (use the back end of a paint brush to dot on the middle part of the flowers)
    11. Using a 3/4 flat brush, paint the sides of the wood canvas in Blue Lagoon. Using a #8 brush paint stripes in Sky Blue.
