Brightly Painted Zinnia Flower Rocks

These rocks, painted with Americana® Acrylics, are bright, fun to make, and perfect to decorate the garden.
SUPPLIES
- newspaper
- rocks
- paintbrushes
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Wash the rocks and let them dry completely before painting. Protect the work surface with a sheet of newspaper. Allow paint to fully dry between steps and when changing to a new color. Repeat each step as needed for additional coverage.
- Zinnia 1: Mix Lilac Meadow with a small amount of Lamp Black. Use to paint a small dot in the center of the rock.
- Zinnia 1: Paint four long petals in Lilac Meadow on opposite sides.
- Zinnia 1: Paint another four long petals in Lilac Meadow.
- Zinnia 1: Paint the last four petals in Lilac Meadow (a total of 12 petals; see photo).
- Zinnia 1: Using the tip of a fine tip paintbrush and Summer Squash, add small dots around the edges of the middle circle.
- Zinnia 1: Continue to work around the circle for about three rows or until you achieve the desired look.
- Zinnia 2: Mix Summer Squash with a small amount of Lamp Black. Use to paint a small dot in the center of the rock.
- Zinnia 2: Paint 12 petals in Summer Squash as instructed for the first zinnia flower (STEPS 2-4).
- Zinnia 2: Paint the lower half of each petal in Magenta.
- Zinnia 2: Using the tip of a fine tip paintbrush and Summer Squash, add small dots around the center dot. Continue to work around in a circle for about three rows or until you achieve the desired look.
- Zinnia 3: Mix Magenta with a small amount of Lamp Black. Use to paint a small dot in the center of the rock.
- Zinnia 3: Paint 12 petals in Magenta as instructed for the first zinnia flower (STEPS 2-4).
- Zinnia 3: Using the tip of a fine tip paintbrush and Summer Squash, add small dots around the center dot. Continue to work around in a circle for about three rows or until you achieve the desired look.
