Deck a deer head out in fashionable buffalo checks on a sign made with Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™.

SUPPLIES

• sandpaper
• flat brush
• painter's tape
• Silhouette electronic cutting machine
• wooden sign

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Cut out the provided pattern using the Silhouette machine. Apply the deer stencil onto the wooden sign.

2. Paint inside the stencil using Rouge.

3. Once dry, apply painter's tape, evenly spacing horizontally.

4. Mix the first check color by combining Rouge and a little bit of Carbon. (This should be lightest of the colors mixed but still pretty dark.) Apply the mix to the untaped areas within the deer stencil.

5. Apply painter's tape evenly spaced vertically.

6. Mix the other color using the same method as before. (Add a bit more Carbon this time to obtain a slightly darker color.) Apply the new mix to the untaped areas within the deer stencil. DO NOT remove the tape; allow to dry.

7. Re-apply the horizontal tape in the same position as before, this time applying it directly on top of the vertical tape. Paint inside the squares created by the tape using Carbon.

8. Once all the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape and lightly sand the top to get a more distressed finish.
