Colorful Winter Canvas

Create a lovely winter scene with Americana Acrylics news colors!

SUPPLIES

    • 8" x 10" canvas
    • glitter
    • small acrylic paint brushes, assorted sizes and shapes
    • small detail brush
    • printed tree image
    • small sponge

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Gather your supplies.

    2. Start by adding texture to the upper right corner of your canvas using DecoArt Texture Sand Paste. Then begin painting the canvas using lighter colors first in soft sweeping motions for a lightly blended effect.

    3. Next add in some of the brighter colors using the same type of sweeping motion.

    4. Once the canvas has been coated in paint, sprinkle glitter over the top right corner. It will stick to the paint and the Sand Texture Paste.

    5. Let the canvas dry thoroughly before continuing. The tree/trees element could be freehand drawn/painted or an inkjet tree image of a tree can be transferred.

    6. To do this apply Heavy Gel Medium to the canvas.

    7. Cut generously around the image, and press the paper to the surface and rub to remove air bubbles.

    8. Allow to dry for several hours. Wet a small sponge and moisten the back of the paper.

    9. Rub gently until the paper peels away. Stop rubbing when the image is mostly visible.

    10. Paint back into your image to blend everything together and also to deepen the colors with more layers of color.

    11. Use the small detail brush to define the tree shape using black for contrast.

    12. Add more glitter and paint over some of the glitter for more interesting textures.
