Cute Cactus Treasure Boxes

Stock some sweet treasures colorfully in succulent boxes painted with Americana® Premium™ Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • 1/4" flat brush
    • craft glue
    • #1 liner brush
    • 3/8" angular shader
    • pencil, chalk, or chalk pencil
    • 1/2" deerfoot stippler brush
    • double-ended stylus
    • mini flowers, pink
    • papier-mâché cupcake box

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Prep the paper-mâché cupcake boxes with a coat of White Gesso, if needed. Stipple the tops of the boxes with a stipple brush double-loaded with Phthalo Green-Yellow and Titanium White.

    3. Paint the bottom half of the boxes, one double-loaded with Primary Magenta and Titanium White, and the other double-loaded with Cobalt Teal Hue and Titanium White.

    5. Add some shading with Primary Magenta on the pink box, and Cobalt Teal Hue on the blue. Add highlights with Titanium White, if desired.

    7. Use a chalk pencil to draw a star on the box tops to mark off the cactus sections. Shade on either side of the lines with Phthalo Green-Yellow.

    9. Line and dot the bottoms of the boxes with Titanium White. Line the sections on one cactus with Titanium White and dot with Cobalt Teal Hue. Line the other cactus with Phthalo Green-Yellow and dot with Magenta. Adhere the mini flowers to the tops with craft glue. Fill the boxes with your favorite treats.
