    • cosmetic sponge

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

A cosmetic sponge will aid in even coverage and cleaner lines. Dab the sponge into the paint and then dab the sponge off until the paint is very thin. Coverage will take several thin coats of paint.

    1. Note: This sign was bought already painted. However, you may choose to paint a White Wash background on the sign using a wash technique of painting where the wooden layer underneath the paint is still visible through it. Do this by thinning the paint and dry-brushing it on or by gradually applying layers of paint thinned with water.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Seal the stencil to the sign's surface as much as possible and secure with painter's tape to keep it from moving.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Hold the stencil flush to the board around the area you are stenciling as you go. Using a cosmetic sponge and Silver, fill in the words "Deck the Halls", applying several thin layers.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Using the same method as Step 3, apply Emerald Green to the leaves and the ornament. You may wish to cut the cosmetic sponge into a smaller piece so that it is easier to work with.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Apply Gold to the bow of the ornament and the three small dots next to each of the leaves.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Remove stencil carefully and allow to dry. Once dry, touch up any lines or bleeding with White Wash.
