Decoupaged Shadow Box with Flower Pots

Bright a room with this decoupaged shadow box with matching pots for plants.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • scissors
    • ruler
    • pencil
    • 1" flat brush
    • terra cotta pots
    • wood glue
    • 1" painter's tape
    • saw-tooth picture hanger
    • butterfly-themed scrapbook paper
    • wooden dowel rod
    • shadow box

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Sand the shadow box surface. Remove any dust with a paper towel.
    2. Tape off the back slots with 1" painter's tape. Paint the inside walls with two to three coats of Cotton Ball. Allow to dry completely between coats.

    4. Paint the outside and front of the box in Waterfront as well as a wooden dowel. Allow to dry completely between coats.

    6. Paint three terra cotta pots with Waterfront, Pink Tropics, and Inch Worm using a 1" flat brush.

    8. Cut scrapbook paper to fit each slot of the box. Apply a coat of Americana Matte Decou-Page to the wooden crate. Position paper and apply another coat of Decou-Page on top. Remove any wrinkles or bubbles with a finger.

    10. Cut several butterflies out from the same scrapbook paper. Apply the butterflies randomly to the pots with Decou-Page. Create a glaze with Black Tie and Glazing Medium. Apply the glaze to three pots and to outside of the the box and dowels.

    12. Attach the wooden dowel to the box toward the bottom with wood glue. Add a saw-tooth picture hanger to the back of the box. (Be sure it is centered.)
