Distressed "Farm Fresh" Market Sign

Not selling your homegrown products? This sign makes a colorful addition to any kitchen.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • sandpaper
    • scissors
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • #1 liner brush
    • #1 round brush
    • pen or pencil
    • wooden sign

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Use a 3/4" flat brush and Tuscan Red to paint the largest top sign section. Rinse brush.

    3. Use the same brush and load separately with Winter Blue, Sea Glass, and Oyster Beige to paint the smaller sections. (See photo for placement.) Rinse brush before switching colors and at the end.

    5. Use a pen or pencil and the tracing and transfer papers to trace and transfer all patterns to each section. (The eggs, tomatoes, and peppers can go in any order you choose.)

    7. Use a #1 round brush to basecoat the eggs: use Honey Brown for one. Rinse brush. Basecoat the other egg Oyster Beige. Rinse brush. Use both colors to shade and highlight both eggs. Rinse brush. (You will need to use the #1 liner brush to get in between the letters.)

    9. Use a #1 round brush and True Red to basecoat the tomatoes. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Tuscan Red to shade the tomatoes. Rinse brush.

    11. Use a #1 liner brush with Kelly Green to basecoat all of the leaves. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Holly Green to shade all of the leaves. Rinse brush.

    13. Use a #1 round brush and load separately with Kelly Green and True Red to basecoat each pepper and stem. Rinse brush before switching colors and at end. Use the #1 liner brush and Holly Green to shade the green pepper and outline. Rinse brush. Load the same brush with Tuscan Red to shade and outline the red pepper. Rinse brush.

    15. Use the #1 liner brush and Snow White to fill in all the words. Rinse brush. Let completely dry.

    17. Use sandpaper to lightly distress the sign.

    19. If you will be putting the sign outdoors, use the 3/4" flat brush and DuraClear Matte Varnish to seal it. Rinse brush and let sign dry thoroughly.
