DIY Blanket Crate

Give blanket storage some style with Americana Decor® Texture™.

SUPPLIES

    • scissors
    • pencil
    • painter's tape
    • large wooden crate
    • palette knife
    • flat brushes
    • cardstock

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Gather the materials.

    3. Paint the inner edges of the crate with Light Fern.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Continue to paint the outside of the crate with Light Fern in a crosshatch motion.

    7. Paint the inside of the crate with Olive. Allow to dry. Add a second coat for complete coverage.

    9. Trace the oval shape of the crate handle onto a sheet of cardstock.

    11. Cut out the oval shape and use to trace the shape onto the front and back of the crate.

    13. Stagger the shapes, alternating the number of ovals on each board.

    15. For the sides, tape off the middle section.

    17. Spread Deep Bronze (Metallic) with a palette knife into the oval shapes.

    19. Continue adding texture to all of the ovals.

    21. Let the Deep Bronze (Metallic) dry slightly and lightly swipe over the surface with a wet palette knife to smooth down the peaks of paint.

    23. Paint Olive around each oval shape. Allow to dry and add a second coat.

    25. Add Deep Bronze (Metallic) to the crate sides.

    27. After smoothing down peaks with a wet palette knife, take off the painter's tape while the paint is still wet to get a clean line.

    29. Place more painter's tape on each side of texture paint.

    31. Paint Olive on either side of the texture paint. Remove the painter's tape while the paint is still wet for a clean line.

    33. Touch up the paint in any areas to finish.
