DIY Dipped Bamboo Utensils
Posted by DecoArt on Jun 12th 2014
Hi DecoArt readers! I’m Crystal from A Pumpkin & A Princess. I enjoy sharing crafts, recipes, DIY projects, and family activities. I’m excited to be here today sharing a easy tutorial on making your own paint dipped bamboo utensils.
With the Fourth of July quickly approaching I wanted to create patriotic themed utensils for our big family BBQ. One of my favorite things about holidays is creating a fun tablescape that coordinates with the holiday colors. Today I’m showing you how easy it is to transform plain bamboo utensils into any color scheme to match your party décor.
Items Needed:
- Americana DuraClear Varnishes 2oz - DuraClear Satin Varnish (DS21-3)
- Painters Tape
- Foam Brush
- Bamboo Utensils
Instructions:
Begin by taping off the section you would like to paint. You could get creative and make color blocked designs with multiple paint colors or add paint stripes instead.
Paint the bamboo utensils and allow each coat to dry. I used two coats of paint for the red and blue and three coats for the white.
Once the final coat of paint has dried brush on the polyurethane sealant. That’s it! They’re very simple to make and also make a great hostess gift.
Thanks for joining me today.
