DIY Fun Photo Backdrop!

Make these super fun crazy hardos to create your own photo backdrops with Americana® Acrylics, Enchanted™ and Galaxy Glitter™!

SUPPLIES

    • scissors
    • foam core board
    • medium flat brush
    • medium round brush
    • 1 sheet white cardstock
    • exacto knife
    • •pencil

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    This is a fun way to participate in a group art activity from a distance! Make your own HairDo and post online using the hashtag #hairdoityourself and check out everyone's creations.

    Use one 20" x 30" foam core board for each hairdo.

    1. Start with foam core board big enough to fit your hairdo design.

    2. Print and cut out the face template provided or measure your own face and make a template.

    3. Decide which orientation (vertical or horizontal) fits your hairdo design idea. For longer styles, place face template closer to the top of the vertically placed foam core board.

    4. For wider styles, use foam core board horizontally and place face template in center.

    5. Trace your face template onto boards.

    6. Draw your hairdo idea and add a fun crown!

    7. Choose colors and gather materials.

    8. Paint on first hair color with Vivid Violet. Also, paint crown with Vivid Violet. Paint other strands of hair with Pineapple and Bahama Blue.

    9. Mix 1:1 ratio of Texture Sand Paste and Vivid Violet. Paint onto crown. Let dry completely.

    10. Using a fan brush, paint on Ultraviolet Galaxy Glitter. Allow to dry completely.

    11. Add a small amount of Snow White each paint color used: Vivid Violet, Pineapple and Bahama Blue. Paint highlights onto hair strands. Allow to dry completely.

    12. Paint on Gold Enchanted Shimmer to yellow color.

    13. Next, paint on Magenta Enchanted to violet color. Last, paint Turquoise Enchanted onto blue strands. Allow to dry.

    14. Using an exacto knife, cut out hairdo.

    15. For the next hairdo, draw braids and add ears.

    16. Gather Enchanted Shimmer colors: Blue, Green, Violet and Gold. Tip: Label your palette for each color to minimize confusion of Enchanted Shimmer paints.

    17. Using a flat paint brush, paint your hairdo with Ultra black.

    18. Paint entire hairdo with Ultra Black and allow to dry.

    19. Paint ears and details with Gold Enchanted Shimmer.

    20. Paint on Blue and Green Enchanted Shimmers to create colorful braids.

    21. Next, paint Violet Enchanted Shimmer onto braids.

    23. Once dry, paint Ultra Black onto braids for crisp details.

    24. Using an exacto knife, cut out the hairdo.

    25. Draw a curly hairdo onto board.

    26. Gather paints for hair.

    27. Paint on Georgia Clay Americana Acrylic paint with an oval brush.

    28. Once dry, paint more detailed curls with Traditional Burnt Sienna Americana Acrylic.

    29. For depth, paint Dark Chocolate Americana Acrylic into areas around curls.

    30. Add small amount of Pineapple Americana Acrylic to Georgia Clay to create highlighted curls.

    31. Cut leaves and flowers out of white card stock.

    32. Using Decoart Matte Decoupage, attach leaves and flowers to hairdo. Allow to dry.

    33. Paint Eucalyptus Leaf, Matcha Green and Mermaid Tail Americana Acrylics onto leaves.

    34. Paint flowers with Carousel Pink, Vivid Violet, Pineapple Snow White and Bahama Blue. Once dry, brush on White Enchanted Shimmer for a shimmery finish. Lastly, cut out curly hairdo with an exacto knife.
