SUPPLIES
- paper towels
- painter's tape
- medium flat brush
- 3/4" flat brush
- garden stool
INSTRUCTIONS
- The metal stool I found had cut-outs, so I planned my design around those and went for a striped pattern. (TIP: If your bench has color or a pattern, paint the entire surface with Cloud White first and allow to dry.)
- (TIP: Plan your colors and the order of the colors to be placed onto your project beforehand.) To clear white stripes to accent the bright colors in this design, I used painter's tape to mask off vertical stripes and used painter's tape to mask off the top and bottom rims.
- Paint open areas vertically. (I started with Blue Bahama and painted each stripe I wanted to be blue. I had six colors, so I painted every fifth stripe that color.)
- Pull off the tape from the Bahama Blue stripes when finished.
- Paint the next set of stripes with Lime Zest. (TIP: If the color of paint you are using seems to be too translucent, add a drop of Cloud White to the color and mix.) Remove tape after painting this set of stripes.
- Paint the next set of stripes with Tiger Lily Orange. Remove the tape. Allow to dry.
- Re-tape the stripes that are left and paint on the next colors: Citrus Green, Marigold, and Fuchsia.
- Touch up or add any more layers of colors, if needed, with a small flat brush. Using a baby wipe or wet paper towel, clean the edges of the lines. Allow to dry.
- This project is perfect for a front porch or for patio accents. Place with other DIY spring projects to have a contemporary front porch.
