Create a ceramic sign for Valentine's Day and beyond with Americana® Acrylics.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • scissors
    • pencil
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • #4 round brush
    • #0 liner brush
    • cosmetic sponge
    • cardstock
    • white transfer paper
    • twine
    • ceramic shape
    • paper punch

When adding dots, keep a damp paper towel handy to clean off the paintbrush.

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Paint two coats of Titanium White onto the ceramic sign using a 3/4" flat brush.
    2. Use three different sizes of circle paper punches on scraps of cardstock. (These will be the circle stencils.) Use one of the circle stencils with a sponge or stencil brush to add dots in Petal Pink. (To paint with the sponge or stencil brush, add a tiny amount of paint onto the sponge or brush and tap up and down on the palette or plastic plate to distribute the paint. Then pounce up and down inside the stencil to apply the paint.)

    9. Instruction #5
    10. Mix approximately (3) parts water with (1) part Titanium White to create a white wash. Brush on two coats of the white wash, allowing to dry between coats.
    11. Transfer the "Do All Things with Love" pattern onto the sign with white transfer paper. Paint the arrow in Gold (Metallic) using a #4 round brush. Use the liner brush to paint in the letters with Carbon Black.
    12. Instruction #7
    13. Use the handle end of a paintbrush to add Snow White dots onto the arrow. (To do this, dip the handle end of the brush into a small amount of Snow White and touch the handle end onto the sign.) Repeat to add the desired number of dots.
    14. Instruction #8
    15. Cut the desired length of twine. Thread the twine through the holes in the sign and tie each end into a knot. Apply a small amount of clear drying glue onto the knot to hold it in place.
    16. Brush on a layer of Satin Varnish for added durability.
