Entryway Artwork and Scheduler

Entryway Artwork and Scheduler

Posted by DecoArt on Aug 16th 2016

In the home, I love for spaces to be functional as well as appealing to the eye. That is tough for my entryway since it is such a narrow space. It was a thorn in my side for years before I decided to create an art space on the wall. I started out in the craft world as a scrapbooker and it always bothered me I didn't have a good way to directly show off my pages. My husband helped me create this Entryway Artwork Frame where I could show off a couple of my scrapbook pages.

Items Needed:

Instructions:

When we first moved into our home 12 years ago we had all the walls painted beige. That was the basic color of the time and you decorate a room around it in almost any color. I could kick myself from 12 years ago. Beige? And I paired it with red and brown. How dull!

In the last couple of years I have slowly been giving our living room a makeover. The walls are now 2 shades of gray. We've added chair rail all around the room. The the red and brown are GONE and replaced with navy and yellow.  The only beige, red, and brown left in the entire house was on my entryway artwork frame.

The new Americana Decor Satin Enamel paints have the perfect shade of navy that matches my living room! And the subtle shine... I just love it!

I used the Dark Denim and the Honey Gold to paint over the entryway artwork frame and panels. 2 coats did just the trick.

Luckily, I still had a sample container of the gray wall paint to paint over the last of the beige wall.

In order to hang the scrapbook pages on the frames I placed 4 clear corner tabs directly on the painted wood. The scrapbook pages slip right into them.

Doesn't it look so much more fresh now? And it finally matches the rest of the living room. I love that this is the first thing people see when they come in our house!

Now just one more thing for the center panel...I found this chalkboard at Michael's and it was already a perfect shade of navy. It was also the perfect size for this space and now acts as our weekly scheduler so we can see what's going on as we walk out the front door. It's easy to update each week and my boys can check to see when things are coming up.

When we're hosting a celebration or having friends over I can easily ditch the schedule and draw something pretty or write a fun and welcoming phrase.

Now I'm going to start looking at all of my furniture in the living room in a new light. I may need to paint them Dark Denim or Honey Gold!
