Use SoSoft® Fabric paints to add tie-dye details to a plain hoodie.

    • scissors
    • plastic bags
    • washable marker or pencil
    • yarn
    • plastic bottle
    • tray
    • grate
    • white hooded sweatshirt

    1. This project works great on a plain white, hooded sweatshirt.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Gather SoSoft Fabric Paints to use. (I chose to use Lavender and Ocean Blue.)
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Fold the sweatshirt flat. (See photos.) Using a washable marker or light colored pencil, draw a semicircle shape. Fold along the line and tie with yarn or string in sections until secure.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Set up an area to do your fabric painting. (A plastic tray and grate provide an excellent work space.) Using a clean squeeze bottle and a writer tip, drip some water onto the tied sections. (This will help the paint to seep into the fabric.)
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Use a clean bottle and fill halfway with water. Squirt in Ocean Blue. (Mix should be 4 parts to 1 part paint.) Place finger on top and shake until mixed. Squirt onto tied section, leaving some white areas. Make a second mix of 4 parts water to 1 part paint. (I made a purple mix of water and Lavender.) Mix and squirt onto remaining white areas. Squeeze some of the mix into the creases of the fabric as well.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. If you want, squeeze some water at the end of the colors to allow the paint to bleed or blend more into the white space of the shirt. Tie a plastic bag around the painted part so paint doesn't get where you don't want it to be.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. For the sleeve, do the same process: tracing a semicircle; folding along the line; and tying with yarn or string. Try a different method of paint application by alternating blue and purple. Tie a plastic bag over the painted sleeve and continue to do the bottom left corner of the shirt.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Lay the sweatshirt out on a clean surface and allow to dry.
    16. Instruction #8
    17. Cut and remove the pieces of yarn or string.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. This is a great way to add a fun detail to any piece of new or used clothing.
    20. Instruction #10
    21. There are so many different colors of SoSoft Fabric Paints, that your possible creative designs are endless!
