Fairy Garden Planter Box

Create your own mini fairy garden in a planter box with Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.


    • palette or plastic plate
    • sandpaper
    • wooden box
    • finishing nails
    • hammer
    • clean cloth
    • E6000 Glue
    • table saw
    • wooden spindles
    • masking tape
    • 1/2" foam pouncer
    • 2" or 3" foam brush
    • 1" flat paintbrush
    • cordless drill
    • wooden appliqué



    Allow the paint to dry thoroughly between coats.

    1. Build the box according to the attached directions. (For the legs, I used a wooden spindle, purchased at a thrift store and cut into four pieces. A spindle can also be purchased at hardware store.)

    3. Wipe down the box with a clean cloth before painting.

    5. Using a foam brush, paint the outside of the box with two to three coats of Coastal Waters. Let dry between each coat.

    7. Paint 1" to 2" of the inner edges of the box with Coastal Waters. Let dry.

    9. Using a foam pouncer, stencil leaves in Inch Worm from the Funky Flowers stencil on the front of the box, on either side of where you'll be placing the wooden appliqué.

    11. Using a flat brush, paint the wooden appliqué with two to three coats of Inch Worm. Let dry.

    13. Once dry, adhere the appliqué to the front of the box with E6000 Glue.

    15. Once fully dry, fill the planter box and stage the garden, adding trinkets and a gravel path or plants for interest.
