Farmer's Market Subway Art Canvas

Decorate your farmer's market booth or kitchen with this down-home-themed subway art.

SUPPLIES

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • stylus or pencil
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • #1 liner brush
    • #1 round brush
    • stretched canvas

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Use a 3/4" flat brush and Timeless to paint the canvas in a circular motion from the center out. Rinse brush. While the paint is still wet, use the same brush and Rustic to paint the edges, having them fade as they go in. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.

    3. Use a pencil or stylus and the tracing and transfer papers to trace and transfer the pattern onto the canvas.

    5. Use a #1 round brush and Everlasting to fill in the whole onion and the top of the cut one. Rinse brush. Use the same brush to mix (3) parts Treasure, (1) part Romance, and a very small amount of Everlasting. Use the mix to paint the letters; add details lines to the onion; and fill in the bottom of the onion half. Rinse brush.

    7. Use a #1 round brush and Romance to fill in the tomatoes. Use the same brush and Everlasting to highlight. Rinse brush. Use the same brush to mix (3) parts Treasure with (1) part Romance to shade the tomatoes. Rinse brush.

    9. Use a #1 liner brush and New Life to paint the rest of the letters in the word "tomato". Rinse brush.

    11. Use a #1 liner brush and Heritage to fill in the Mason jar. Rinse brush. While the paint is still wet, use the same brush and Inheritance to highlight the jar and to paint on the rest of the letters to spell out "honey". Rinse brush.

    13. Use a #1 liner brush and Everlasting to paint the Mason jar lid. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Relic to paint the rim of the lid and details. Rinse brush.

    15. Use a #1 round brush and Delicate to paint the word "Potato" including the actual potatoes in the word. Use the same brush to mix Delicate with a very small amount of Rustic. Use the mix to shade the potatoes. Rinse brush. Use a #1 liner brush and Rustic to add tiny dots to the potatoes.

    17. Use a #1 liner brush and Delicate to paint the corn. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Fortune to paint the corn husk. Rinse brush. Use the same brush with New Life to paint the leaves on the husk. Rinse brush.

    19. Use a #1 liner brush and Fortune to paint the rest of the letters in the word "Corn". Rinse brush.

    21. Use a #1 round brush to paint the radish with Romance. Mix (1) part Romance with (1) part Heritage. Use the mix to highlight the center of the radish. Rinse brush. Switch to the #1 liner brush to paint the letters with the same mix. Rinse brush.

    23. Use a #1 liner brush and New Life to paint the stems on the radish. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Delicate to add details to the stems. Rinse brush.

    25. Use a #1 round brush and Enchanted to paint the letters in the word "Kale". Rinse brush.

    27. Use the same brush and New Life to highlight the kale leaf. Rinse brush. Use a #1 liner brush with Delicate to paint the stem on the kale leaf. Rinse brush.

    29. Use a #1 round brush to mix (1) part Timeless with (1) part Delicate. Use the mix to fill in the bread. Rinse brush. Use the same brush and Inheritance to paint the bread, starting right below the top and fade out as you brush downward. Rinse brush.

    31. Use a #1 round brush to mix (3) parts Everlasting with a very small amount of Delicate. Use the mix to paint the lines in the bread. Rinse brush.

    33. Use a #1 liner brush and Rustic to outline the bread opening lines and to paint on the word "bread". Rinse brush. Let dry. Once dry use Soft-Touch Varnish to seal so the sign can go outdoors at the Farmer's Market.
