INSTRUCTIONS
- There are so many beautiful and fun paint pouring techniques. This artwork was created using a "Dirty Pour" method to create a Geode look. This technique is achieved simply by pouring the paint directly onto the substrate. By using a particular color scheme and ornamentations, you can create this stunning geode look. Let's get started! With a pencil, map out faint lines of where to pour your paint in a basic geode shape.
- To catch any drips and run-off, place your canvas on the aluminum pan. To establish the base of the geode, pour White onto the bottom left corner of the canvas.
- Use a stir stick to spread the White out to meet the first drawn line.
- Now pour Gold Metallic to the next couple of lines outside of the white.
- Using White, fill the empty spaces between the gold lines and spread so the colors meet.
- Pour True Blue next to the outer gold line to fill the next space.
- Add Deep Turquoise and right alongside, create depth with True Blue.
- Add True Blue to the top right corner of the canvas. Pour Tropical Blue on top of the Deep Turqoise and True Blue to add more dimension.
- Pour White and Gold Metallic in between the True Blue in the corner and the blues in the middle of the canvas.
- Use a stir stick to lightly blend the colors.
- Pour the clear decorative filler beads into the bottom right corner and press them into the white.
- Create gold filler by mixing Gold Metallic and the clear decorative filler together.
- Place the gold filler beads in between the white and gold.
- Add a little bit of Jet Black to the blues and lightly blend for more depth and to make the blue decorative filler pop.
- Pour the blue decorative filler onto the Blues in the middle of the canvas and onto the True Blue in the top right corner.
- Let the canvas fully dry.
- Pour the casting resin 1/3 of the way in the plastic cup.
- Add in equal parts of the casting hardener.
- When mixing the resin, use slow motions, scraping the side of the cup to ensure both the parts are adequately mixed together.
- Pour the resin onto the middle of the canvas.
- Spread the resin with a stir stick so the resin covers the entire canvas.
- Let the resin dry for 12 hours and allow the resin to fully cure for 72 hours.
