Add swirled shimmer to mini flower pots with DecoArt® Pouring Medium™.
SUPPLIES
- masking tape
- craft sticks
- palette knife
- flower pot
- disposable gloves
- disposable cups
INSTRUCTIONS
- Choose some mini flower pots. I chose some that already had little fake plants. I wanted to liven up the pot's plain surfaces.
- Cover pouring area with a protective surface. A great method is getting a plastic tub and some grates. (TIP: This set up can be used repeatedly and when the paint dries, you can peel up the paint pour skin to cut up and use for other projects!)
- If using a mini faux plant, just mask off where you don't want the paint to go before pouring.
- Using a tiny disposable cup (or cut up plastic egg crate cup), pour each Dazzling Metallics Paint color:Teal, Shimmering Silver, Amethyst and Crystal Green into a separate cup. (TIP: Depending on the size of your pouring surface adjust the amount of paint to use to cover it.) Add Pouring Medium on top of paint colors in a 1:1 ratio. Mix each color cups with a clean craft stick.
- In a clean cup, pour in layers of the previously mixed colors. Layer paints in the cup in this order: Amethyst, Teal, Crystal Green and then Shimmering Silver.
- Pour layered paint cup onto the surface of the cup. Move around until the surface is covered and you reach the desired look. Set on grate to drip dry. (TIP: Lift and scrape bottom and move to a clean spot on the grate BEFORE it is completely dry.)
- Optional: With a palette knife, apply Americana Decor Texture-Plum to the bottom portion of the pots to add even more visual interest! (TIP: Let dry upside down.)
- Mixing the pouring medium with metallic paints is a great way to update any surface with some shimmering swirl!
