Found Object Canvas Art

I love to go on treasure hunts at flea markets, garage sales and charity shops .A canvas can be a great background for a small assembly of found objects....

Items Needed:

The looking glass is ”all wired up”.

Instruction Image #1

Lots of texture in the background.

Instruction Image #2

Rub-ons and embossing powders and of course a lot of Media fluid acrylic paint!

Instruction Image #3

I used all sorts of papers, tissue paper, sheet music, die cuts and old book pages.

Instruction Image #4

The Matte Medium is great for gluing and sealing at the same time.

Instruction Image #5

Use Modeling Paste through a stencil to create some texture.

Instruction Image #6

I added a ”crackle pattern” using a stencil and Black Media Fluid acrylics.

Instruction Image #7

When the background was dry I painted over it with Quinacridone Gold Fluid Acrylic.

It gives a vibrant color but is still transparent so you still can see all the different layers.

Instruction Image #8

Antiquing creams are great for highlighting textures, I used Patina Green.

Instruction Image #9

For the wings, I mixed Texture Glass with a few drops of Metallic Gold to create a

semi-transparent modeling paste.

Instruction Image #10

Doesn't look very exciting when you apply it but it dries clear!

Instruction Image #11

A light wash of Carbon Black diluted with 50% water.

Instruction Image #12

On some areas I melted some clear embossing powder to create a resist effect, to highlight it even more I applied some Antiquing cream, let it dry and then wiped off most of it off.
