Enjoy this Independence Day holiday tray that will have your guests asking where it came from.

SUPPLIES

• tracing paper
• transfer paper
• ruler
• pencil
• 3/4" flat brush
• 1" painter's tape
• #1 round brush
• wooden tray

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Start with a plain wooden tray. Make sure the surface is clean and dust free.

2. Place 1" painter's tape across the outside edges of the tray bottom to prevent paint from getting on the bottom.

3. Use a 3/4" flat brush and Cotton Ball to paint around the inside and outside edges of the tray. Rinse the brush and remove the tape.

4. If you're using a larger tray, you can use a ruler and pencil to make the inner rectangle. If you are using the same size tray, just transfer the rectangle from the pattern.

5. Use painter's tape to mask off the rectangle.

6. Use a 3/4" flat brush and Blue Bird to paint the border on the tray bottom. Rinse the brush. Remove tape.

7. Carefully use a 3/4" flat brush and Cotton Ball to fill in the rectangle. Rinse brush.

8. Use a pencil and the tracing and transfer paper to trace and transfer the chevron pattern into the middle rectangle.
9. Use a #10 flat brush and Red Barn to paint the chevron stripes. Rinse brush.

10. Use a pencil and the tracing and transfer papers to trace and transfer on the stars. (Refer to photo for placement.)
11. Use a #1 round brush to mix (3) parts Cotton Ball with (1) part School Bus. Use the mix to fill in the stars. Rinse brush. Use the same brush to mix (1) part Cotton Ball with (1) part School Bus. Use this mix to outline the stars and make a squiggly border around the rectangle. Rinse brush.
