Use Americana Acrylics paint to create a unique serving tray!

SUPPLIES

• scissors
• ruler
• cardboard
• #1 liner brush
• 1/8" angle brush
• large wooden tray

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Allow paint to dry before painting adjacent triangle in pattern.

1. Determine the spacing of triangle pattern. The slats of the tray shown were an obvious guideline, but alternately select a measurement that evenly fits the height of your tray.

2. Create equilateral triangle template. Draw a line that is the same measurement as your 'rows'. (If each row is 2-inches wide, then you will draw a 2-inch line.) Fold this in half to find the center point. Draw another line that is the same length from the end of your first line to the crease. This will be your vertex. Repeat on the other end of your first line. Cut out as template.

3. Starting in the middle, line up the bottom of the triangle with a row on the tray and gently trace around the triangle. Flip the triangle, and trace again. Continue working along each row until the pattern covers the entire tray.

4. Using the angle brush, color in one triangle. Jumping around the tray, continue with the same color being careful no two adjacent triangles are the same color. To achieve a color gradient like the tray shown, keep with the darker paint colors on one half of the tray and gradually move towards the lighter colors on the other half.

5. For sharper corners, use the thin liner brush.
