SUPPLIES

    • stylus or pencil
    • sandpaper
    • detail brush
    • carbon paper or transfer paper
    • 1-2" brush

    INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Choose a wooden piece of furniture with a flat front.
    2. Instruction #1
    3. If possible remove any hardware. Sand the piece to remove any sheen.
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Give the piece 2-3 coats of Pure White Satin Enamels paint.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Find an otomi pattern online. Using an online grid maker, print out the image across 9 sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper and tape together to make a 'blown up' version of your otomi pattern.
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Tape carbon paper to the back of your otomi print out and center onto your piece of furniture.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. With a sharp pencil, trace over the outline of the otomi pattern.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. With detail brush, fill in the pattern with Satin Enamels in Metallic Pewter.
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Recoat if needed. The piece shown here only has one coat of paint so the brush strokes are more evident. If a darker, more opaque, finish is desired, give the otomi pattern a few different coats.
    16. Instruction #8
    17. Repeat on front and either side. There's no need to replace the carbon paper... one piece should work for three sides of the piece of furniture.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. Replace hardware and clean up any smudges by painting over with pure white. (The hardware on this piece did not remove.)
