Handmade Holidays Blog Hop 2015 - Day Two

Thanks for joining us on the second day of the 5th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! We've got another exciting tutorial, more links to the other blogs participating in the hop, and instructions on how to enter one MASSIVE giveaway!

This mug set is sure to add a little sweetness and color to any kitchen décor.

Items Needed:

  • Paint Palette
  • Mason Jar Mugs
  • Assorted Brushes

Instructions:

Mug #1: Place the pattern inside the mug. Use a #8 round brush to outline the face and a 3/4" flat brush to fill it in with Timeless. For the hair, make a raspberry color by mixing Romance with Timeless 1:1. Use a #8 round brush to outline the hair and a 3/4" flat brush to fill it in. (Save the color mix for later instructions)

Make a light pink color by mixing (3) parts Timeless with (1) part Romance. Use the mix and a 3/4" flat brush to paint the handle. Use a #8 round brush to paint the stripes. (Save the color mix for later instructions)

Use a liner brush to paint the eyes in Treasure and Heritage. Use a liner brush to paint the eyes, nose, and eyebrows in Heritage. Use a liner brush to paint the mouth in the Romance/Timeless mix from step 1. Use a liner brush to paint the heart and the polka dots with the light pink mix from step 2. Use a liner brush to paint the lips in the raspberry mix from step 1.

Mug #2: Place the pattern the inside mug. Use a #8 round brush to outline the face and a 3/4" flat brush to fill it in with Serene. Use a #8 round brush to outline the hair and a 3/4" flat brush to fill it in with New Life.

Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the handle in Vintage. Use a #8 round brush to paint the stripes in Treasure.

Use a liner brush to paint the eyes in New Life and Treasure. Use a liner brush to paint the nose and eyebrows in Treasure. Use a liner brush to paint the lips in the Timeless/Romance mix from step 1. Use a liner brush to paint the heart and the polka dots in Serene. Use a liner brush to paint the lips in the Timeless/Romance mix from Mug 1.

Mug #3: Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the cup in Heritage. Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the handle in Timeless. Use scissors to cut out the heart pattern, hold in place, and trace with a pencil. Use a #8 round brush to paint the heart in Timeless. Use a #8 round brush to paint stripes on the handle and outline the heart in the mix from step 2.

Mug #4: Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the mug in Treasure. Use a 3/4" flat brush to paint the handle in Serene. Use scissors to cut out the heart pattern, hold in place, and trace with a pencil. Use a #8 round brush to paint the heart in Serene. Use a #8 round brush to paint stripes on the handle and outline the heart in New Life.

Bake these mugs according the the instructions on the Chalky Finish for Glass. Once cured and baked they will be dishwasher-safe! How cool is that?

After you've baked them it's time to wrap these cuties up and give them away! Make sure you wrap in extra tissue paper to prevent damage in transit!
