Venture into your imagination with a hot air balloon mixed media using DecoArt Media® Fluid Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

• water container
• palette or plastic plate
• paper towels
• 1" flat brush
• #4 round brush
• canvas
• palette knife
• cosmetic sponges

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Print out the pattern provided. Paint using desired colors. (Shown: Cobalt Teal Hue, Green Gold, Primary Yellow, Quinacridone Magenta, and a 1:1 ratio of Primary Yellow and Quinacridone Magenta for orange). Use a 1:1 mix of Payne's Grey and Prussian Blue Hue for shadows.

2. Cut Americana Decou-Page Paper to size. (Shown: script from Victorian Romance) Using a 1" flat brush, apply Matte Medium to the canvas. Position the Decou-Page Paper and remove any bubbles or wrinkles. Apply a layer of Matte Medium on top of the paper.

3. Using a 1" flat brush, apply a wash of Payne's Grey to the entire canvas. While the paint in still wet, dip a hand in clean water and splatter the water onto the canvas. Allow the paint to dry. Place a sheet of paper towel over the canvas surface and remove the splattered water.

4. Position the Americana Stencil over the canvas surface. (Shown: Brick Wall) Using a cosmetic sponge, apply Prussian Blue Hue randomly over the stencil. Mix a small amount of Prussian Blue Hue into Texture Sand Paste. Using a palette knife, apply the mix over the stencil randomly to create desired affect.

5. Position the hot balloon and banner design in the desired location. Using Matte Medium, adhere it to the canvas surface. Using a #4 round brush, line the wording and image with Titanium White. Use the same color to apply stitching to the hot air balloon. Using a stencil of choice (shown: Americana Reusable Stick-On Dots Stencil), randomly apply Primary Yellow and Quinacridone Magenta using clean cosmetic sponges.
