    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • ruler
    • pencil
    • flat brush
    • tacks
    • hammer
    • drawer pull
    • table
    • wood stain
    • drill and drill bits
    • bed sheet

Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Sand and prep the nightstand for painting by filling any holes with Wood Filler and sanding shiny surfaces to rough them up. (If the top of the nightstand has paint on it, you will need to sand the paint off completely in order to add the stain. The smoother the surface of the nightstand, the more realistic the metallic paint will look.)
    2. Instruction #1
    3. Clean off any sanding dust from the nightstand and cover the work surface with a bed sheet or garbage bag to avoid any paint splatter. Apply Pewter, using a paper towel, to the entire nightstand, omitting the top. (You may need a couple of coats depending on how deep the color is underneath.)
    4. Instruction #2
    5. Apply the desired wood stain to the top of the nightstand using a paper towel. (Be sure to coat the sides and underneath the top piece of wood.) Allow to dry before continuing.
    6. Instruction #3
    7. Mark out a rectangle where the furniture tacks will go by measuring in around the drawer, 1" from the edge on all sides. (Do this on the front panel of the nightstand if it doesn't have a drawer.)
    8. Instruction #4
    9. Attach the furniture tacks to the drawer by placing one in each corner to start. Hammer them in gently as they can bend.
    10. Instruction #5
    11. Find the centers between the end tacks and place two more tacks. (See photo.) Continue to find the centers between the tacks and place more tacks.
    12. Instruction #6
    13. Place the tacks evenly until they are all about the same space apart and are as numerous as needed for the desired affect. (Each nightstand will have a different size drawer, so spacing may be a little different for your particular project. )
    14. Instruction #7
    15. Apply Pewter to the furniture tacks. (A few coats may be needed.)
    16. Instruction #8
    17. Paint numbers going up vertically on the side of the drawer. (Plan them out with a pencil so you know where to paint.) Use White Wash to fill them in. Use sandpaper to rough up the numbers a little to hide any imperfections.
    18. Instruction #9
    19. Drill a hole for the drawer pull and attach it in the center of the drawer.( If you don't have a drawer but want the look of one, just attach the drawer pull to the front of the nightstand to create a faux drawer.)
    20. Instruction #10
