Inspiration for Your Mantle

Inspiration for Your Mantle

Posted by DecoArt on Dec 12th 2014

The mantle above your fireplace is a special place come the winter holidays. Stockings are hung, with care of course, and cards received from loved ones are displayed with love. Here are some simple tips to staging a beautiful holiday mantle, with a couple of easy DIY projects to make it an extra special place of holiday cheer.

  • Upcycle your stockings with a little burlap, Multi Surface Satin and Bead & Glitter Glue. This is a super easy project to create a cohesive look for all of your stockings! For the full tutorial, check out this blog post.

  • Gather branches and pinecones from a nearby walking trail, then stack them and use them as an additional shelf to prop up a festive focal point

  • For our festive focal point this year, we took a piece of tan foam core and painted it with Snow-Tex, built up in strategic areas to resemble a snowy window. Then, we wrote the word Joy with Multi Surface Satin in Red Barn. Incredibly easy, but incredibly festive!

  • Add berries for another layer of color. Cranberries are certainly festive for the winter holidays!

  • Candles add a soft, romantic glow at night time and scented ones are even better. Vanilla scented tall white tapers in classic crystal candle holders compliment shorter apple cinnamon scented jar candles very nicely.

Whether you have a modern free standing, two way fireplace or a traditional built in fireplace with hearth and stonework, your holiday mantle can be extra beautiful this year with just a few added touches from DecoArt.

Happy Holidays!
