It's A Beautiful Day Mixed Media Card

Greet the Spring and warmer weather with this mixed media card, compliments of DecoArt Media®.

SUPPLIES

    • palette or plastic plate
    • transfer paper
    • scissors
    • pencil
    • 1" flat brush
    • permanent black marker pen (medium tip)
    • cosmetic sponge
    • #0 round brush
    • print-outs
    • notecard and envelope

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Apply Americana Decou-Page Paper to the front of the notecard using Americana Paper Decou-Page. (Shown: Vintage Silhouette)

    3. On a palette or plastic plate, mix a 2:1 ratio of Cobalt Teal Hue and Translucent White. Apply a wash to the entire notecard. In the corners, blend in a small amount of Payne's Grey.

    5. Transfer the provided pattern onto the notecard front in a desired location.

    7. Using a 1" flat brush, apply a wash of Green Gold onto the patterned Americana Decou-Page Paper. (Shown: Paisley Punch)

    9. Cut the patterned Decou-Page Paper into different size circles. Using Decou-Page Paper, decoupage them onto the card front where the tree will be. Using a black permanent marker, go over the image outline.

    11. Create the tree trunk and branches using a #0 round brush and Burnt Umber. Use Payne's Grey to add variation/shadow. Rinse brush. Use a wash of Green Gold and Yellow Oxide to create the ground.

    13. Position a patterned stencil of choice. (Shown: Americana Split Angles Stencil) Using a cosmetic sponge, apply Quinacridone Magenta randomly. (Turn the stencil if needed to create the desired look.)

    15. Print out a quote or phrase in a desired font. Apply a wash of Yellow Oxide. Cut out and decou-page in a desired location with Paper Decou-Page.. On a palette or plastic plate, mix a small amount of Cobalt Blue Hue and Payne's Grey. Using a #0 round brush, outline the wording and create dots around the wording. Create circles in Green Gold around the tree. Using a #0 round brush, apply Yellow Oxide to bicycle frame, if desired.
