Layered, Distressed Nightstand

Combine Chalky Finish with petroleum jelly on a nightstand and sand for a varied, distressed look.


    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • sandpaper
    • 2" chip brush
    • petroleum jelly
    • wooden nightstand



    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Wipe off nightstand with a damp paper towel.
    2. Apply petroleum jelly with finger over dimensional areas and edges. Wash hands.
    3. Use a 2" chip brush and load with Treasure to paint entire nightstand. Rinse brush. Let dry completely.
    4. Lightly sand over areas where you see the petroleum jelly.
    5. Wipe down with a damp paper towel.
    6. Use a 3/4" flat brush with Ultra-Matte Varnish to seal the entire piece. Rinse brush.
