Set enduring holiday messages in stone using Americana® Multi-Surface Acrylics.

SUPPLIES

    • pencil
    • rocks
    • paintbrushes
    • newspaper or dropcloth
    • toothpicks

    INSTRUCTIONS

    NOTES:

    Wash the rock and let it dry completely before painting. Protect the work surface with a sheet of newspaper. Allow paint to fully dry between steps and when changing to a new color. Repeat each step as needed for additional coverage.

    1. Joy sign: With Black Tie, paint a large oval covering the entire surface of the rock except for a small rim around the outside. Paint a second coat, if needed.

    3. Using a pencil, lightly letter the stone with the word “joy”.

    5. Paint over the pencil marks using White Birch and a fine tip brush. Thicken the down-strokes of the lettering. Let dry completely; paint a second coat, if needed.

    7. Use a toothpick and paint on small snowflakes of varying sizes using Cotton Ball in random spots around the rock. Paint some dots as well using the tip of a toothpick.

    9. Peace sign: With White Birch, paint a large oval covering the entire surface of the rock except for a small rim around the outside. Paint a second coat, if needed.

    11. Using a pencil, lightly letter the stone with the word “peace”.

    13. Paint over the pencil marks using Black Tie and a fine tip brush. Thicken the down-strokes of the lettering. Let dry completely; paint a second coat, if needed.

    15. Use a toothpick to paint on small stars using Dolphin in clusters at the top right and bottom left of the rock. (Make one larger star in each cluster surrounded by a few smaller ones.)

    25. Let dry. Paint three ivy berries in the center of each cluster of leaves using Lipstick.
