Color a birdhouse in Americana® Acrylics for an eye-catching Valentine accent.


    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • paper towels
    • tracing paper
    • transfer paper
    • 3/4" flat brush
    • wooden birdhouse
    • #4 round brush



    Let dry completely between painting steps.

    1. Using a 3/4” flat brush, basecoat the entire birdhouse with two coats of Blue Harbor.
    2. Trace and transfer the designs: to the front: birds, tree, and heart; to the roof, hearts.
    3. Mix equal parts of Blue Harbor and Snow White. Using a #4 round brush, paint the tree with the mix. (Save mix for later steps.)
    4. Using a #4 round brush, paint the birds Bleached Sand.
    5. Using a #4 round brush, paint the leaves with Snow White, Bleached Sand, True Red, and the Blue Harbor/Snow White mix.
    6. Using a #4 round brush, paint birds’ eyes and one wing, Blue Harbor; the other wing, True Red; beaks and legs, Blue Harbor/Snow White mix; heart, Snow White; and perch, True Red.
    7. Using a #4 round brush, paint the hearts on the roof Bleached Sand. Add accent dots along roof edges by alternating True Red and Snow White.
