Meet the Maker: A.V. Does What!?

Meet the Maker: A.V. Does What!?

Posted by DecoArt on Feb 12th 2020

Today, in the DecoArt Meet the Maker series, we are featuring A.V. of A.V. Does What!? This series features a variety of creators using DecoArt products to inspire your next creation!

A.V. and her team of amazing volunteers (featured in the photo above) completely made over two restrooms at ACE High School in Brooklyn, New York using donated Americana Decor Curb Appeal paint. They used Biggie and Michelle Obama quotes to inspire the students who will be using these restrooms every day. Watch the vlog for this project here

A.V. is a native New Yorker who has always loved the art scene in her hometown and loves to incorporate hip hop lyrics into her décor. She calls it "Hip Hop Home Making!" After 10 years of working as a set decorator in the film industry, she started A.V. Does What!? to honor her late father, the person she grew up building things with. Her goal is "to help thrifty millennials realize that life is better when you Do-It-Yourself!" Her newest endeavor is that is a new contributor for HGTV Handmade, a weekly craft video series.

Recently, A.V. was a panelist and host of the live craft challenge at Black Girls Craft Conference in North Carolina. The conference had over 1,000 attendees and was sponsored by Cricut and Michaels. In addition, she spoke at Creativation 2020 last month about video production for crafters. A.V. is always looking for ways to use her platform to lift others up and give back.
