This DIY mirror, in an oh-so-trendy industrial style, will be the perfect accent piece for your home décor.

    • water container
    • palette or plastic plate
    • sandpaper
    • soft cloth
    • 1" flat brush
    • 1" painter's tape
    • stylus
    • palette knife
    • mirror

If you are unsure of the mirror's original finish, sand and seal the yard sale find with Stain Blocker/Sealer to prevent any base color bleeding through. Let dry completely. Wipe any dust from the surface with a soft cloth.

    1. Secure the dot stencil or small circle template to the surface with painter's tape. (Shown: Americana Dangles Stencil)
    2. Apply a thin layer of Clear Modeling Paste. Carefully remove the stencil/template. Using the stylus, make a line through the raised dot. Let dry.
    3. Instruction #2
    4. Repeat on each corner of the frame (or along one edge or however you want to apply them). Let the Clear Modeling Paste dry thoroughly and then sand lightly to remove any rough edges or loose bits. Wipe to remove the dust.
    5. Apply two coats of Tin to the entire frame in a slip-slap fashion, allowing the brush marks to remain. Let each coat dry thoroughly before applying the next.
    6. Instruction #4
    7. Use a soft cloth to apply Carbon Black Antiquing Cream to the entire surface. Let it sit for a minute or two and then gently work in a circular fashion to soften the effect and to remove the excess color. (The color should remain in the lower areas of the texture you created, enhancing the brush marks and texture. Pay particular attention to the corners around the screws.) Let it dry thoroughly.
    8. Re-apply the Antiquing Cream until you are happy with the end result. Use a piece of paper towel or soft cloth to do this, keeping it light. (A small sea sponge or a stippling brush will work too: just try not to allow it to become too deliberate-looking. Apply as much or as little of this as you like, or until you are happy with the end result.)
    9. Instruction #6
    10. Finish the screws with a fine line of Snow White along the center line and on the upper right side of each screw.
    11. Instruction #7
    12. Finish the frame with two light coats of Soft-Touch Varnish. Let dry thoroughly.
