INSTRUCTIONS
NOTES:
Let dry completely between painting steps.
Work on one rose at a time, allowing each section to dry before moving onto a new section and then onto another rose.
- Find a plain canvas container; any size will work. (Mine was 6.5"x 7.5" x 5.5")
- Gather the supplies, including the Smell the Roses SoSoft Stencil.
- Stuff the container with items to flatten the surface for painting. (I used books.)
- Place the Smell the Rose stencil where you want the pattern to lay on the container.
- Paint the leaves by dabbing Emerald (Metallic) onto the stencil with a sponge dauber. Rinse out the dauber and dry with a paper towel. Dab on some Aquamarine (Metallic) into the leaves for some added dimension. (See photo: I removed the stencil here just to show the variation in colors.)
- For the buds on the stencil, dab on Pearl (Metallic).
- Dab Pink Tourmaline (Metallic) onto the tips of the rose buds.
- For one of the larger roses, dab on Amethyst (Metallic).
- Use Raspberry Quartz (Metallic) to highlight the rose petals.
- For the next rose, use a cleaned dauber to dab Ruby (Metallic) onto the stencil surface.
- For the last rose, dab on Pink Tourmaline (Metallic) and then some Pearl (Metallic) as a soft highlight to the petals.
- Use a liner brush to outline the bottoms of the petals shapes Obsidian (Metallics) to give the stenciled image some more dimension.
- Using Obsidian (Metallic) and the small dauber, make polka dots in the empty space surrounding the stenciled roses.
- With a clean liner brush, add some highlights on the petal shapes using Pearl (Metallic).
- This project is a fun way to add a design to a plain container. Use the same design for a variety of projects.
