Turn old-fashioned into fabulous by making over a dorm room dresser.

SUPPLIES

• sandpaper
• 2" chip brush
• dresser
• rubber gloves
• steel wool
• glass cleaner
• wood filler
• clean cloth
• drill and small drill bit
• foam roller brush
• metal bowl
• paint stripper
• putty knife
• mineral spirit
• wooden dresser
• drawer knobs

INSTRUCTIONS

NOTES:

Let dry completely between painting steps.

1. Sand away any rough edges and thoroughly clean with glass cleaner.

2. Optionally: if sanding doesn't make the surface as smooth as you would like, strip the surface. Remove old layers of paint according to label instructions of the chosen product.

3. Repair gaps and damaged wood with wood filler by applying with a putty knife. Allow wood filler to dry completely before sanding smooth with a fine grit sandpaper. Follow the wood grain direction to sand any other rough spots on the dresser, as needed.

4. Using a 2" paint brush, apply Relic in all crevices and tight areas where a foam roller will not fit. To achieve a smooth finish, follow up quickly with a foam roller where painted areas meet flat surface areas. Apply Vintage to the drawer fronts.

5. Roll a thin coat of Relic onto the dresser and drawers with a roller using light pressure. Follow the grain of the wood for best results and overlap the edges of the wet paint. Keeping a consistent amount of paint loaded onto the foam roller with help achieve a smooth surface. Allow paint to dry completely between coats.

6. To create a very smooth surface before sealing the dresser, use a very fine sandpaper lightly all over the flat surfaces. Use a very soft touch and do not press down hard. Wipe with a clean, soft rag when done to remove sanding dust.

7. Following the same steps as painting, apply two coats of Ultra-Matte Varnish, allowing to dry completely between coats.

8. Mark the location of the new drawer knobs on each drawer. Drill pilot holes first and follow with the appropriate size drill bit for the drawer knob screws. Add drawer knobs.
